Hello readers , today´s class was about features of spoken discourse. The teacher showed to us a power presentation where spoken discourse and its classification was presented.  We can say that some features of spoken language are : Conjoined short phrases and clauses.  May be planned( lecture) unnplanned ( conversation). Employ fixed phrases , fillers , hasitation , markers.  Shows variation , speaker roles , purpose , context.  Moreover, there is a three way of seeing spoken discourse :  The first one is as INTERACTION :   It has to do with social interaction and conversations . some of the skills involved in this type are opening and closing , choosing topics , making small-talk , joking , reacting to others , turn talking.  The second is TRANSACTION :  This happens where the main focus of the transaction is how accurately the speakers use the language.  some of the skills involved in transaction are explain...

LISTENING COMPREHENSION AND ORAL EXPRESSION CONT...... Hello dears! Now, I would like to give my opinion and what I`ve learned during this last session . Well , the following three groups had the chance to implement their classes . The first group gave us some listening skills for developing  our listening in an effective way . One of those was, use word association in order to recalll to what we just heard. A second one is to record our own lectures in order for us to be aware of our oral expression and some probable mistakes in our speech. Watching videos can be also helpful for us to get more vocabulary , get familiar with grammar structures , and pronunciation of the language.. A last advice is to be proactive and participative in group discussion to enhance our speaking skills and our active listening.  Furthermore , Oral expression was another topic to discuss in the class . Oral expression can be defined as ,  the ability to convey wants , needs ,...

HOW TO TEACH LISTENING COMPREHENSION AND ORAL EXPRESSION  Hello dear readers, In this opportunity the first groups passed to put into practice the topic Listening comprehension and Oral expression.  One of the groups did an activity about listening to an audio where the students had to then order some of the sentences of what they heard . I had the chance of passing to the front , and giving a logical order of those sentences.  Then another group did another activity where they picked on nine students to make a line and make up a story with whatever they wanted to tell then the last student from the line had to write the story on the board for the whole class.  What I can tell about from the first activity is that the main idea of it was students comprehension of the message ,and listening to details. In the second activity , students put into practice vocabulary , active listening , and creativity to make up that story.  Some of the activi...

Hello dear readers , today I would like to share some info that I found useful in the session . First , we have the listening strategies:  Cognitive strategies :  these are used as mental activities that have to deal with recalling information like listening to a story . what students do is to work memory.  .Meta cognitive strategies :  This includes monitoring . checking , verifying one`s understanding. Socioaffective strategies :  this happens when the listening is two ways , and the meaning can be negotiated between the speaker and the listener.  Listening is defined as an ability to get and to receive information while interpreting it in a message. It is the key of accurate communication if in any case comunication breaks down then the sender can get frustrated or irritated.  There is also two main concepts listening comprehension and as acquisition .  COMPREHENSION :  The action of capability of understanding someth...

METHODOLOGICAL  FRAMEWORK  Hi readers , welcome to my blog once . Well in this chance I had a session where I was able to check our group hypotheses . I also learned about the sample and population , variables and indicators which was the hardest part of it to me. Well , there is a relational matrix where we should be able to identify every variable and indicator of each of our hypotheses. Afterall , It resulted to be pretty easy . Here is a definition which I took from the board  ``EVERY VARIABLE HAS ITS OWN INDICATOR , AND INDICATORS ARE LIKE SYMPTOMS OR CHARACTERISTICS THAT ARE USED TO MEASURE THE VARIABLE. INDICATORS ARE USED TO WRITE THE QUESTIONS OF THE INSTRUMENTS.``  DEFINITION OF HYPOTHESIS:   It is a possible explanation to an issue o situation which shows any relationship between variables. its main purposes are to guide the research , provide explanations , and prove theories.  On the other hand , we must take into ac...

TOPIC : Methodological framework ( chapter III)  Hello readers , I wish I had the time for updating my blog , but is never too late to start writing again . Well due to the teacher`s illness we did not have any class on June 15th and on June 22nd we did not go to class either since it was our day `` teachers day ``, so we did have a day off .  After explaining all that stuff , I would like to comment that in our first session we learned more about chapter three of our research project which includes the research design , type of research , pupulation and sample , hypotheses and a relational matrix of variables. We did have some doubts in our team regarding our population , but we solved it . I have read some about how a hypothesis should be written , but I could not recall it well , so we proceeded to look for some info I learned that they must be free of ambiguous terms , they should be precise and in an afirmative way.   After discussing in groups , we watched a ...

In this session ,  In this ocassion , my group and I started presenting our research topic which is HOW VIOLENCE AFFECTS CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT  We basically defined some concepts such as procedures , techniques , discipline , etc .  I had the chance to reflect on the topic with the students by asking them some critical thinking questions. Here in El Salvador is not a unknown new that the educational system is failing since gangs are practically taking their own territory to the point that they also get involved within public schools. Sometimes , the same students are the ones who are part of a gang , and they usually threathen teachers and figures of authority inside the schools.  As consequence , disciplinary action taken from teachers are seen as a dangerous action nowadays . Punishing students have become almost prohibited since many teachers have been murdered because they confiscated something from certain students that unfortunately were i...
