5TH MODULE SESSION ONE

TOPIC : Methodological framework ( chapter III)

Hello readers , I wish I had the time for updating my blog , but is never too late to start writing again . Well due to the teacher`s illness we did not have any class on June 15th and on June 22nd we did not go to class either since it was our day `` teachers day ``, so we did have a day off .  After explaining all that stuff , I would like to comment that in our first session we learned more about chapter three of our research project which includes the research design , type of research , pupulation and sample , hypotheses and a relational matrix of variables. We did have some doubts in our team regarding our population , but we solved it . I have read some about how a hypothesis should be written , but I could not recall it well , so we proceeded to look for some info I learned that they must be free of ambiguous terms , they should be precise and in an afirmative way.

After discussing in groups , we watched a video starring J,c  Richards talking about listening comprehension . Here you have the video if you like to take a look.

Jack Richards emphasizes two types of listening processes the first is top down processing which is when the teacher uses background information to predict the meaning of what the students are going to listen .
For example , when you have students predicting what an article is going to be about by only listening the main theme of the recording.

On the other hand , bottom up processing focuses on listening for details  and involve tasks that focus on understanding at a sound or word level.

Here is a chart for you to see the differences between these two:
